Tools, Techniques, Takeaways - and a New Plan Sponsor Credential

The Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA) is bringing something new to the nation’s longest-running national plan sponsor event – an innovative new education program and credential for those who sponsor the nation’s retirement plans.

The Plan Sponsor Council of America, part of the American Retirement Association (ARA), has officially opened registration for its annual national conference where plan sponsors gather to discuss and learn about cutting-edge issues, trends, and solutions regarding 401(k) and 403(b) plans, non-qualified deferred compensation, and Health Savings Account plans. PSCA’s 2019 National Conference will be held April 30-May 1, in Tampa Bay, FL.

The 2019 conference will inaugurate a plan sponsor credential, the Certified Plan Sponsor Professional (CPSP). The CPSP designation affirms the holder has the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively evaluate, design, implement, and manage all aspects of an employer-sponsored retirement savings plan. The new credential was developed in collaboration with education experts at the American Retirement Association, select members of the PSCA board, and other industry experts.

Plan sponsors who register for the 2019 National Conference will not only have a ground floor opportunity to earn this credential, but also to participate in a "boot camp" preparatory session on May 1 for the credential exam to be offered on May 2.

“Our annual conference continues to be the preeminent and longest-running national conference in the retirement industry,” said PSCA Board Chairman Ken Raskin. “The conference is an opportunity for plan sponsors to come together, share ideas and advice, and network with experts. This year’s theme is Tools, Techniques, and Takeaways for Building a Better Retirement for your employees. With the addition of the new plan sponsor credential, the expanded conference provides a unique takeaway.”
Featured conference topics include:

  • Ask the Experts ERISA Attorney Panel
  • Tips and Strategies for a Successful IRS and DOL Audit
  • Is Student Debt a 401(k) Problem to Solve?
  • Financial Wellness Workshop – Beyond the Theories
  • A View of Women's Economic Security: Policy Issues & Practical Steps
  • Best Practices in Providing Cybersecurity

Signature, Lifetime Achievement and Best-in-Show Awards
PSCA will announce winners of its annual Signature and Lifetime Achievement Awards on April 30 during the first day of the conference. The Signature Awards are designed to recognize outstanding plan communication and education efforts to both plan sponsors and plan participants. This year the Signature Awards competition has been expanded to 13 categories, ranging from creating culture change to events and workshops to financial wellness. New this year, national conference attendees will have the opportunity to select a “Best-in-Show” winner from the first place category winners. Visit PSCA’s website for more information at psca.org/2019-signature-awards.

PSCA’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals for their contributions to the defined contribution industry. PSCA is accepting entries now through February 8 for both awards.

Information on conference registration is available on PSCA’s conference website. A discounted early registration rate is available to those who register by March 1. Information on the CPSP credential is available on the credential section of the conference website at pscalearn.org/#faq06. Registration for the online education program and certification exam will open on April 1.
